    Teaming up to improve body confidence in sport

    The University of Minnesota's Tucker Center Team worked together with the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR)—international experts on body image and appearance research; Nike—the biggest champion of athletes and sport in the world; and Dove—the world’s biggest provider of self-esteem and body confidence education to develop a first-of-its-kind set of coaching tools to build body confidence in 11- to 17-year-old girls, and individuals across the full gender spectrum.  Read more.

    Helping girls reach their full athletic potential

    A partnership between the University's Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport and sportswear giant Nike is bolstering girls confidence, with the goal of keeping them in athletics. The online tool, called Coaching HER, takes aim against biases and inequalities in girls’ sport by providing coaches with a free interactive education program that fits easily into their busy lives.     Energy and U eclipses 100,000 student milestone

    It’s official: more than 100,000 students in the Twin Cities metro area have engaged with chemistry through the biannual Energy and U program, supported in part by Medtronic and 3M. With the completion of the May 2023 series, the interactive show – which teaches third, fourth, and fifth graders about the First Law of Thermodynamics – surpassed this major education milestone.  Read more.
